Edward and FoFo Lewis Lecture 
 On April 16th, 2014, Dr. Robert Hauge of Rice University gave the Edward and Fofo Lewis Lecture.

Dr. Edward "Ted" Lewis, professor emeritus of chemistry, joined Rice after graduating with a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from Harvard University in 1947. Prof. Ted LewisHe officially retired in 1990 after 42 years in in the Department of Chemistry at the Wiess School of Natural Sciences. He served two separate terms as chair of the department in the mid-1960s and 1980s.

Ted and Fofo LewisMrs. Lewi received her B.A.  at Rice in 1951. She met Dr. Lewis while she was a student and were married for more than 50 years. Mrs. Lewis is a member of the Owen Wister Literary Society (OWLS) and is a part of the Golden Anniversary Scholarship Committee.

In 2005, Dr. and Mrs. Lewis established that Edward S. and Fofo Lewis Chemistry Award Fund as an annual award to recognize outstanding research by a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry.
